In this episode, I’m talking to Dr Rod Lamberts and Dr Will Grant of Kinda Thinky. It’s a live show from Canberra, which pushes the boundaries of talk shows and isn’t afraid to get the audience thinking about big issues while drinking beer.

You can now watch the first series as pay-per-view on Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/ondemand/kindathinky1 – rent the entire season for $9.95!

During the show, we talk about the origins of the Kinda Thinky live show, the topics, and what’s behind a talk show that makes you both laugh and learn.

KindaThinky: Season 1 – Trailer from KindaThinky on Vimeo.

There’s more than one way to use a PhD, and this is some of them. KindaThinky rummages in the underpants of society’s hairiest issues. Who sets the limits? How do we know what’s wrong? Is denial just a river in Africa?

This is not your standard “smart folks bark facts at the masses” schtick. This is moderate velocity thinkings direct from the people who think them. With expert guests. And beer.

With a dedication that leaves no evidence-based stone unturned, KindaThinky unleashes a factopalanche of feelpinions on attractive and courageous* audiences.

Need something to talk about at work the next day? KindaThinky is your ticket to morning glory.

The next live show is “Control”, on Wednesday, 11th March in Canberra, and the second season continues on through 2015. You can find out more at http://www.kindathinky.com.

More about the co-hosts of Kinda Thinky:

Dr Will Grant is a talker, writer, thinker and reader, based primarily at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science at ANU. His talking / writing / thinking / reading has focused mostly on the intersection of science, politics and society, and how this is changing in response to new technologies.

Dr Rod Lamberts is deputy director of the Australian National Centre for Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) at the ANU, a founding partner of the Ångstrom Group, and a former national president of the Australian Science Communicators.
