What follows is a series of interviews, conducted by Kylie Sturgess, which all aired on RTRM.

The GST was introduced by the Howard government in 2000 and applies to almost everything we buy. Sanitary products have never been on that list, but that could be about to change.

University student Subeta Vimalarajah started an online petition that has gained more than 90,000 signatures to ask the government to stop taxing a “bodily function”.

Last Monday night, you would have seen Subeta confront Joe Hockey on the ABC’s Q&A about the effort to change the . I spoke to her about the petition and the Treasurer’s commitment to make changes.

This weekend is the  Margaret River Readers and Writer festival, and it’s now seven years old. The event hosts poets, journalists and academics doing talks and workshops – and an author whose work I’ve been following since her first book, authored at the age of 14.

Isobelle Carmody is an Australian writer of science fiction, fantasy, children’s literature, and young adult literature; while I wasn’t allowed to talk about her new book out this year (!) – we did have an interesting chat about the journey that’s taken her to this point.

Ireland has become the first country to legalise same sex marriage through referendum, with 62% of votes in favour and 32% against.

The decision has seen widespread celebrations across Ireland.

Irish journalist,  Colm Coyne, joined The Mag to discuss the impact of Ireland’s win for marriage equality.
