This is a short episode of a presentation that the artist and author Shaun Tan gave in Perth last year, not long after he won an Academy Award for best animated short film with The Lost Thing.

Shaun Tan is a Western Australian author and illustrator of award-winning children’s books such as The Red TreeThe Rabbits and The Arrival. In 2006, his graphic novel The Arrival won the “Book of the Year” prize as part of the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards and he won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2011.

In this lecture, he talks about audience, the impact of winning the Oscar and takes questions from the audience.
